Position summary We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced senior level Labor and Employment Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. This individual will play a pivotal role in supporting attorneys in labor and employment-related matters, assisting with case management, and ensuring the efficient operation of the legal matters. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of labor and employment laws, a proven ability to manage complex legal tasks, and a commitment to delivering exceptional support to the legal team. Under general supervision and by established policies and procedures, the Senior Paralegal will provide legal and general support to the firm's attorneys and clients, primarily in labor and employment-related matters. The role includes assisting with case management, conducting legal research, drafting subpoenas and other case documents, organizing matter documents, and ensuring the smooth operation of the legal matters. The candidate must adhere to the firm's policies and guidelines, maintain positive interactions with attorneys (both internal and external), support staff, clients, and vendors, and observe strict confidentiality regarding client and firm matters. Job duties and responsibilities • Manage labor and employment litigation matters from start through resolution, including case organization, calendaring, deadlines, document management, and matter tracking. • Obtain, review, summarize, organize, and index case files, pleadings, correspondence, discovery materials, and other litigation documents. • Coordinate discovery activities, including preparing and serving subpoenas; managing requests for production, interrogatories, and document productions; tracking responses; and maintaining organized discovery files. • Schedule and coordinate depositions, prepare deposition materials and exhibits, and maintain deposition-related files and deadlines. • Assist with expert witness coordination, including organizing case materials, communications, deadlines, and supporting documentation. • Draft and prepare routine litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery responses, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents under attorney supervision. • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial notebooks and binders, coordinating trial materials, and providing trial support as needed. • Utilize litigation support and document management systems, including Relativity, to organize, review, search, track, and manage electronic case documents and information. • Apply applicable Federal and California Rules of Civil Procedure, local court rules, filing requirements, and court procedures to support accurate and timely case management. • Prepare and coordinate electronic court filings in federal and California state courts, ensuring compliance with applicable filing requirements and local court procedures. • Perform factual research, legal cite-checking, and citation review per the Bluebook and California Style Manual (CSM), ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and proper formatting of legal documents and citations. • Proofread and finalize legal documents, ensuring work products are correct, clear, concise, consistent, professional, and free of errors. • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to prepare legal documents, spreadsheets, presentations, case materials, and other work product. • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, paralegals, legal staff, clients, and experts to maintain an efficient workflow and ensure prompt completion of projects. Requirements Education: Undergraduate degree and paralegal certificate required; will consider candidate with comparable relevant legal experience in lieu of a paralegal certificate. Experience:Paralegal with minimum 8-10 years of litigation experience required. Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with attorneys, clients, legal staff, experts, and other legal professionals. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong time-management and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple matters, competing deadlines, and shifting priorities effectively. Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, exercise sound judgment, identify and address issues, and drive assignments through completion. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a practical, solution-oriented approach to managing day-to-day challenges. Adaptable and able to maintain accuracy, productivity, and professionalism in a fast-paced, deadline-driven legal environment. Collaborative and responsive, with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate successfully with attorneys, clients, colleagues, and experts to achieve prompt and high-quality results. Equipment used: Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, calculator, copier, scanner, etc. Essential job functions Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring prolonged and/or extensive computer use. Ability to use computers, telecommunications, and digital collaboration tools to perform core job responsibilities. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to maintain attention to detail while analyzing complex information, managing multiple priorities, and applying sound judgment to decisions. Travel for meetings and training as required. Ability to work extended hours as required to meet project, client, or business needs. Working conditions You will be required to work in the office at minimum 4 days per week. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule. The details of your weekly schedule will be discussed further with your direct supervisor. Pay ranges This is a non-exempt position. The hourly wage range for this role is $52.88 to $60.10, with an estimated annual compensation range of $110,000 to $125,000, based on expected hours. This represents the presently anticipated pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
